Terms of Service

Last updated: July 8, 2026

1. The Service

SampleShield is a workflow utility that helps you generate copyright dispute responses for sample-based content claims on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. We extract metadata from license certificates you upload and produce structured text and evidence pages you can use in a platform dispute process.

2. Not a Legal Service

SampleShield is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. We do not represent you, and no attorney-client relationship is created by your use of the service. The dispute text we generate is based on the information you provide and standard licensing principles; it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney. If your situation is legally complex — for example, it escalates to a formal legal notice, litigation, or account termination — we recommend consulting an independent attorney of your own choosing. We do not operate or offer a referral network.

3. Your Responsibilities

You confirm that the license certificates and information you upload are accurate and that you hold a valid license for any sample you reference. You are responsible for reviewing generated dispute text and evidence pages before submitting or sharing them. Misrepresenting a license or filing a dispute in bad faith may have legal consequences, and you are solely responsible for disputes you file and the accuracy of what you submit.

Public evidence pages. If you enable a public evidence page for a dispute, you acknowledge and agree that the page — including your license holder name and sample details — is accessible to anyone with the link, which may include the claimant you are disputing with. You are responsible for deciding whether to enable this feature for a given dispute.

4. Accounts & Billing

Paid subscriptions (Starter, Pro, Studio) renew monthly until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain access through that period's end. Free accounts are limited to three disputes per calendar month.

We may change pricing for new subscribers at any time. If you are an active subscriber under a promotional or "founding member" rate, that rate is locked for as long as you maintain an active, uninterrupted subscription; lapsing and re-subscribing later may be subject to then-current pricing.

Refunds. Subscription fees are non-refundable for partial billing periods. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us and we will review on a case-by-case basis.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Upload content or license documentation you do not have rights to.
  • File disputes you know to be invalid or misrepresent your licensing status.
  • Attempt to bypass plan/tier limits, including through multiple accounts created for that purpose.
  • Misuse, reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract the underlying models or systems powering the service.

6. Aggregated and Anonymized Data

We may use anonymized and aggregated data derived from disputes, claims, and licensing patterns across our user base — for example, trends in claimant behavior, claim types, or dispute outcomes — to operate, improve, and analyze the service, and to develop and offer other products or insights, including to third parties. This aggregated data will not identify you or any individual dispute, license holder, or claimant. This section does not permit us to share your individually identifiable dispute or license records with third parties beyond what's described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice depending on severity. You may delete your disputes and account data at any time from within the app. If we terminate your account for a Terms violation, we may retain records of the violation and associated account data as needed for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes, even after account deletion.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee any specific dispute outcome, claim resolution, or platform decision. We are not liable for decisions made by content platforms, claimants, or other third parties.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SampleShield's total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost revenue or lost monetization, even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold SampleShield harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from: your use of the service, content or license documentation you upload, disputes you file, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of GA/USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the service will be resolved in the courts located in Georgia, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify active users of material changes, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
